Accurately put. We must be the only country in the world that seems determined to persecute its own soldiers in this way; our politicians should hang their heads in shame. They are always keen to pose with the military when it might offer a photo op but very few are willing to protest this absurd charade. The thanks of a grateful nation?
It was a serious bad time, but we're orders given by whoever? And or is government trying to hide/cover up something?
From a documentary about the murder of Pat Finuchan, his son and Wife met with Cameron if are aware of that.
As well as both sides were used also! Plus there is the documentary on Glen Ann Gang, that came out by an English Investigative Journalist. A few years ago.
With respect, I think that misses the point. There is no new evidence to consider- this is purely about getting a former British soldier convicted of murder decades after the event to suit a re-writing of history. Even then, perhaps it could be justified had there been no previous investigations or Enquiry but there have. Most galling of all, the people who murdered and tortured indiscriminately have been pardoned long ago. A soldier, though, doing the bidding of his political masters on behalf of his country will be pursued until death. This stinks.
Exactly - the question is why, given the form of political class. Says to me you all are being used as scapegoats - but for what and or who
Cameron told the Finuchans re Pat Finuchan, a Solicitor, that he had done all he could but couldn't take it any higher, or words to that affect, to which the Finucans said on camera they were surprised/shocked as they thought that was Cameron. Though now it is known that a prime minister is powerless, allegedly.
This is the set up behind the sceans! Government departments all in on it - after all Starmer and many in his party are Fabians as well as love DAVOS/WEF!
While in theory I agree with the Conservative idea of removing the UK from the EHRC, it is indeed a fact that Northern Ireland already has difficulties in upholding the rights of anyone, but especially women. I would refer you to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee, and the Justice Committee of Northern Ireland. Neither have upheld the law regarding a 70 year old British woman who was illegally removed from her home, jailed without trial and ordered out of Northern Ireland in 2022.
I will follow the argument closely, but Northern Ireland must be brought into line, starting with abolishing the Charities Commission for Northern Ireland which is supported by the paramilitaries. I saw this first hand when I was in HydeBank Prison in Belfast, on trumped up charges. I am an ex Army veteran. Is that why?

What can we do to help ?
Support our troops now , then and in the future. Anything else is not justice.

Shouldn't the title read, ' One of the soldiers who murdered civilians in Derry decades ago finally faces trial' ?
“For it’s Tommy this an’ Tommy that…”
