From Cape Town, South Africa — where the tradition of the two-minute silence has its origins — in this special edition of One More Mission , Lt. Col. Simon Barry, former Para, reflects on the enduring meaning of Remembrance.
Veterans and serving personnel from Britain, South Africa and across the Commonwealth come together in a ceremony marked by dignity, sincerity and a shared sense of service and sacrifice.
Beyond nationalities, backgrounds and generations, Remembrance remains a powerful bond between those who have served and those who continue to serve.
But Remembrance must be more than ceremony, political gesture or public performance. It demands that we honour those who served yesterday, recognise those who serve today, and remember those who will be called upon to serve tomorrow.
Remembrance is not a performance. It is a duty.
One More Mission — Remembrance Day 2026.

"We Shall Remember Them!" This wonderful chorus rings out for all our military brothers and sisters in arms, who fell on the battlefields throughout the world. Andy Pandy, your hypocrisy doesn't wash with us veterans and all those good citizens who support our fight for protection from those cruel, soulless bastards who want to prosecute us in a court of law for doing our job of preserving our culture, our way of life and preventing the State from collapsing! History shows the truth of all things. Our armed Forces have always been at the front end of conflict. Because we are the best fighting force in the world, inherited through the Blood of all those who've gone before us. How dare you, the Labour government, resist and desist from protecting Us. You have a duty of care that must be diligently pursued, in favour of all veterans and serving military personnel from whatever military arm they may be! Just listen to the frustration and anger from the Veterans and British People. Be ashamed and humiliated for what you are NOT DOING! Your government is the Enemy of its own State! So put things right before it's too late. "Vive les vétérans!" 💪💪💪🙏
