Northern Ireland Veterans: The Fight for Justice Heads to Westminster
137,000 Voices Demand Action - But the Real Battle Is Just Beginning
In three weeks, on July 14, thanks to everyone who signed the petition, the treatment of Northern Ireland veterans will be debated in Parliament.
This will be the next stage in a long war, likely only won with a change of government.
The petition currently stands at 136,973, exceeding the 100,000 needed to trigger a debate.
This debate takes place in the Great Hall, not on the House of Commons floor.
It is a nicety to placate voters and ward off serious challenges to the system. That said, it is not a waste of time.
Politicians and bureaucrats gorging on taxpayers’ misery and gouging pensioners will only act if the drums beat louder.
More signatures mean more noise.
Keep asking people to sign.
Keep contacting your MP.
Keep beating the drum.
As a Padre to PRA and RBL - deeply concerned too about Post Service abuse of Vets in Civvie street. Do we have in any Vet Charity - access to pro bono legal help for any Vet unfairly treated. Just done a funeral in Bridgend for such a case (suicide) 45 yrs old. Completely unfortunate and avoidable - What can we/I do to avoid a repetition?
