This debacle reminds me of 'The Never Ending Story!' Clearly, This Labour government has no intention of using the powers that they have, to completely 'Shut down' all these unfounded accusations and investigations against all veterans! This 'money spinning ' affair, is tradgic, deplorable, scandalous, and a complete mismatch to logic! Maybe, just maybe our Military Establishment refuse to fight for this so-called government! And let them feel and suffer the indignity that Veterans and their families feel at the hands of Keir Starmer and his cohorts! BenN SF veteran

You must know the we veterans are dispised by those in the elites in our society

I wrote this

Where is Tommy Atkins?

Where is Tommy Atkins,

Is he sleeping in a shed,

Or huddled in some cardboard,

And waiting to be dead?

Where is Tommy Atkins,

All traumatised and bleak.

His body once was strong,

But his soul is now so weak.

Where is Tommy Atkins,

Alone and cast away.

Seeking some oblivion,

Until he dies one day.

Where is Tommy Atkins,

Banged up in some cell.

Ruined by those cockscombs

Who sent him out through Hell.

Here is Tommy Atkins,

Our leaders passed him by.

He's dead upon a slab,

And old mothers sob and sigh.

Great poem from Trevor Morgan below. I am afraid it does not get better but what can you expect from Starmer. He stood with Corbyn supporting "our friends in Hamas".

Shiner, the discredited solicitor who brought fabricated claims against soldiers in Iraq, was said to have links to his chambers.

He turns up on Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph and lays a wreath with fake sincerity and then continues to allow prosecutions of soldiers in Northern Ireland while allowing terrorists to remain free from prosecution for their actions in bombing and killing over 3,000 people in both NI and on the mainland. Unbelievable.

Dear brothers and sisters, I decided to post one of my poems, that highlights the treatment of our veteran community

‘THE VETERAN’

Cold and hungry, lying on a sheet of old cardboard in a town he didn't know. Tried and tested so many times, but now with nowhere else to go.

Shredded clothes upon his back with his faithful dog and his old backpack, there are no memories here, for him!

Who's responsible for his welfare now? Who remembers the things he's done? Battles fought, lost and won.

Humanity has lost its way, and why should this poor soul have to pay. A forfeit to those of high neglect. Without regard or any respect for men and women, just like him!

How long must this go on, before a new dawn of reality and truth, opens the eyes of those living with lies of their own deceit.

The Veteran calls out in pain;‘You do not know my name? I am the one who bears the blame for your mistakes, and your disdain! All we ask from ‘You, is that things don't remain the same?’

There's far too much 'small talk' concerning this immotive subject! The British Government are a pack of 'weak wolves!' intent on executing their own agenda! No matter what they say its of no value to the veteran community, or indeed for our current fighting troops and future veterans. I call on our Military Hierarchy - Our Generals and those who understand our plight, to take some form of affirmative action, whereby, Starmer has 'No Alternative ', but to be compliant and for once! Do something that's right and dignified ! BN SF Veteran🙏💪💪

This article was bought to my attention by George Simm, a former Regimental Sergeant Major in the British Army, and it is not just a commentary – it is a measured but unmistakable warning from those who understand duty, loyalty, and the cost of service better than most who sit on their fat burgeoning arses on the green benches of Westminster.

The article Government Continues Purely Performative Engagement With Veterans articulates with the authority of those who have upheld and still uphold standards, led soldiers, and carried the weight of command responsibility. The words are not partisan. They are principled. And that is precisely why they cut so deeply.

The government’s continued approach – described in the Justice for Veterans article as “purely performative engagement” – feels like a betrayal dressed up as consultation. Veterans are offered meetings, statements, and carefully crafted language, yet the underlying injustice remains untouched. It is governance by optics, not by honour.

Those who served in Northern Ireland and other complex theatres did so under lawful orders, under rules set by the state, in defence of the state. To now subject them to endless legal uncertainty while simultaneously claiming to “support our veterans” is not just inconsistent – it is morally corrosive. You cannot praise service in speeches while allowing those same servicemen and women to endure decades of legal limbo.

This piece deserves commendation because it is restrained where it should be condemning and angry. It is dignified where others might rage. But the reality it describes should anger anyone who believes in the covenant between nation and soldier. A government that fails to defend those it sent into harm’s way weakens its own moral authority.

This is not about avoiding scrutiny. It is about fairness. It is about proportionality. It is about the simple expectation that a country stands by those who stood for it.

If ministers truly wish to restore trust, they must move beyond performative gestures and deliver substantive protection and clarity. Anything less confirms the charge that veterans are being managed politically rather than defended meaningfully – and that is an indictment no government should be comfortable carrying.

To me it defies belief that tax payers’ money, already in critically short supply – the availability of which can only get worse – is to be squandered so "that the families who have waited for so long for answers may finally find them.”

Common sense is AWOL.
